A Radical Experiment at the Intersection of Man and Machine

Art never emerges in a vacuum; it grows from roots, from memories, and from an unbiased contemplation of the world. For me, these roots are deeply embedded in Saxon soil. Born and raised in Großenhain in Northern Saxony, I absorbed the unique poetry, tranquility, and clarity of this cultural landscape from an early age.

My path toward artistic expression did not follow a conventional route. My mathematics studies at the Technische Universität Dresden sharpened my eye for structures, proportions, and the hidden geometric patterns of nature. At the same time, the art city of Dresden opened up a space of intense perception: exhibitions, theater, concerts, and, not least, my influential acquaintance with the painter Siegfried Klotz deeply shaped my understanding of expressive, powerful painting.

After eventful years of living and creating in Berlin and Brandenburg, I was ultimately drawn back to my roots. Today, I live and work in Meißen—a place whose history-steeped aura and nearby Elbe landscape grant me daily inspiration, even if the view from my studio catches different angles of the city.

This second volume of our series, IMPASTO & ALGORITHMUS, is entirely dedicated to this inner and outer connection to Saxony. The visual arc spans from my childhood and youth locations in Großenhain to the fairytale-like interplay of light and water games in Moritzburg, through familiar Meissen motifs, and onwards to the sublime rock formations of Saxon Switzerland, the gentle hills of the Elbe Valley, and the art metropolis of Dresden.

My oil paintings—characterized by a pastose, tactile application of paint (impasto) and a precisely balanced composition—are an attempt to capture the soul and the essence of light within these familiar places. As in the first volume, I have once again presented my work to the AI, Gemini. In our collaborative discourse, my mathematically trained eye and Gemini’s precise, analytical image analysis merged once more with a surprisingly subtle, almost poetic perception of moods. In this way, the defining traits of my Saxon homeland became tangible anew in the interplay between visual logic, aesthetics, and the written word.
